Volunteer Opportunities Join us in providing needed services to survivors of abuse! We offer volunteer and internship opportunities for community members, high school, or university students. All volunteer opportunities require taking our 60-Hour Training. Volunteer opportunities include: - Crisis Line Worker: Provide peer-counseling support and referrals to callers.
- CI-Legal Volunteer Advocate: Assist clients through crisis intervention and with restraining orders when necessary. Perform clerical tasks.
- Children’s Support Group Facilitator: Co-facilitate support group for witnesses of domestic violence.
- Teen Support Group Co-Facilitator: Support teens that are witnessing or experiencing domestic violence.
- Sexual Assault Support Group Co-Facilitator: Provide direct services to clients of sexual assault.
- Shelter Assistant: Provide special interest activities to shelter clients
- Family Advocate: Provide referrals to workshop families, co-coordinate a family workshop, visit families at home, coordinate meetings & events (Spanish).
- Sexual Assault Prevention Assistant: Presentations to providers and families on domestic violence, sexual assault, sexual harassment, child abuse, teen dating violence and assist with table events.
To volunteer to provide direct services to clients, you must participate in our 60-Hour Training, which qualifies you as a State-Certified Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Peer Counselor. The comprehensive training includes crisis intervention skills; the dynamics of domestic violence, sexual assault, chemical dependency; resources and referrals in the community; as well as an overview of the societal dynamics that foster violence against women. Our next 60-Hour Training will take place in the Spring of 2009.
