Legal Assistance Women's Crisis Support~Defensa de Mujeres provides legal advocacy; offering the following services to eligible clients: - Legal information and referrals
- Assistance in filing for domestic violence restraining orders
- Accompaniment to court hearings
When approved, the restraining order acts to limit interactions between a domestic violence victim and her abusive partner. It may also serve to specify child custody arrangements. |

| Our legal program staff provide assistance throughout all phases of obtaining a restraining order including the following services: |  | - Initial counseling to determine eligibility
- Preparation of court documents
- Assistance with preparing a declaration
- Filing of court documents
- Picking up court documents and delivering them if necessary
- Assistance with serving the batterer
- Accompaniment to court hearings and mediation
- Emotional support

WCS~DdM legal services are provided on a sliding scale starting at $15, but no eligible client will be refused services based upon inability to pay.
